I was invited by artistic director Pascal Champagne to conduct research on AI-generated visuals and to create content for the show Luminare. This immersive experience plunged the public into the heart of the Nicolet region and its history through a combination of dance, musical performances, testimonials, video projections and lightning effects.
This event was part of Nicolet’s 350th anniversary and was held at the Saint Jean-Baptiste Cathedral in December 2022.
The visual research was conducted using Stable Diffusion (2022). Content production involved an iterative process between AI, Photoshop and After Effects.
I immediately recognized a parallel between this process and how I experiment with synthesizers when composing music: improvising, recording raw sounds, decomposing and rearranging.
