Gazapo is the second full length album by Belafonte Sensacional (as well as an important novel written by Mexican writer Gustavo Sainz). The guideline for this project was the play between the meanings of the word “Gazapo”: a young rabbit or a lie.

A layer of red cellophane wrapping the cassette J card is used to block out the magenta ink used for the album artwork. At first glance, Gazapo’s cover is pure bubblegum and love. Nevertheless, the disguised truth is another; wild, violent, hyper sexual and grotesque. This artwork is an hommage to Mexico City, and its juxtaposing layers of life.

In addition to the cover artwork, 2 other illustrations were developed for the cassette stickers and 2 posters (that were later used for silkscreened t-shirts).
